Vision and Image Processing Laboratory
The Vision and Image Processing
Laboratory is used for teaching and research activities. A wide range of computers,
ranging from PCs to powerful workstations are available. High-resolution monochrome and
color CCD cameras are used for image acquisition. A PC-based system incorporating an
optical microscope with a motorised stage support automation projects such as the
inspection of IC dies. Transputer and C40 boards are employed for projects requiring
high-speed parallel processing. Software tools, such as the MATLAB Image Processing
Toolbox and neural network simulation packages, assist in the investigation and
development of algorithms for a variety of applications.(Left: Automated visual
